Lookin’ in the Library

Hey everybody! I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful springtime—at least I am. I hope your atmosphere is ‘beautiful’ wherever you are!

I am personally loving getting ready to take our boat out again and maybe doing a little skiing. And getting to have a few days off to be at home and not have to make that drive to Durham to work. I just finished having a few days off last week and it was awesome to just be at home.

Something interesting happened the other day on one of my walks—not only funny but with a good message I can share. Often I walk on the long dirt road behind my house and own past my neighbor’s house filled with birds and few field cats. It’s totally lovely and peaceful, everything so green and beautiful. I can also watch the fish jump down by the pond.

I’ve developed a little tradition with the particular set of birds and cats as I walk by them every day. I whistle to the birds and talk to the cats and I crack myself up every time I do this. They just calmly stare back at me. I’m sure they are silently thinking I have totally lost my mind! But when I get to this particular placed with my friends, I kind of check that no one is around when I stop to whistle and cat talk, so no one can hear me.

ON my last trip, I got to my spot where my "friends" were and after I had already talked to them, I looked up to find three people in the field staring back at me, smiling and apparently entertained by the strange sounds. I’m quite sure they heard my whistles and cat talk, probably thinking how strange!

As I was walking home, I thought about the fact that we are daily being "watched" by other people whether we know it or not. It reminded me of the quote: "Integrity and character are the sum of who we are in the dark when no one is watching."

This experience reminded me, too, that God is watching and he wants to be honored with our lives—whether we know we are being watched or not.

It was an amusing thing that happened to be with a principle to live by: Be sure your "moos" will find you out, my friends. Live life fully, knowing that God is watching.

It’s been amazing to see what God has done already and I’m excited to see what he has in store next. God bless you and have a great summer!
